Andrzej Rosiewicz – Mister Louis

I grew up listening to this song:-) “Mister Louis” is about Louis Armstrong and I still remember the words;)  I love this song and I am trying to find the record of it, actually his album called “Gold Collection” but it is very hard to find it.  If someone out there knows how to get this collection I would appreciate letting me know :-)  For now I am just sharing this link from You Tube.  Enjoy!

A New Year 2014!

I am writing this post in this New Year thinking that I will come here and write more often on my blog.  There are so many things happened during Christmas season that I would like to share here, so I decided that I will share few posts in this month to catch up.

Today I will just wish you all Happy New Year of 2014! What are the things you would like to accomplish? I have set some goals for myself and I hope that I will reach them :-)

Today my children and I were perfroming at the Spokane Folk Festival.  It was our last time together on that stage.  It is the time to give opportunity to other performers…
We had a great time!  Few years ago I performed by myself  and today all of my children were performing even Ancel, (played on the recorder :-)
 I appreciate performing with my children, they have great skills.  In October we recorded CD called “Studzienka” which means “A Well”, this is the cover from this album.  I chose to put songs that I performed in past few years on the Folk Festival.

“Here in This Land” – America

Statue_of_Liberty-1024x768Few days ago I posted link on youtube to a song I  composed last summer and  with help of William Berry it was arranged for Orchestra.  ”Here in This Land”  was performed by the Spokane Symphony and Kinderchor Choir  during the opening ceremony for the International Accordion Competition.  Music review: Trophée Mondial opens in Spokane with flair – Spokesman Mobile – Oct. 25, 2012 
Since there is no way I could show you the performance of the Spokane Symphony, I decided to record my own version, using just simple instrumentation.  I’ve been thinking about this song and the message I wanted to promote about my thoughts and feelings I have for this Country.
20 years ago I decided to “follow my dreams,” I made a huge step by leaving my Country – Poland and came to the USA to start new “chapter” in my life.  My desire was to study music so I can express better my feelings trough this beautiful gift from God.  Music is a great part of my life but the words will never express the meaning of it.  I will just say that music is a universal language from Heaven.
Anyway I’ve been thinking about all those different possibilities people have when they come to America, if they choose to live righteously, work hard and believe.  I do realize that there are so many different cultures, believes, politics and other aspects that cause contention between people.  But I do believe strongly that this Country was made for us by God.  It is a place for those who want to make a difference but can’t do much when are oppressed, can’t live by own believes, reach own dreams or have freedom …Those things made me ponder especially during this season when we celebrate the Independence Day, the Birth of America.  The Declaration was signed for a reason and to me has a great meaning. In “The Gettysburg Address” Abraham Lincoln said: …that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom — and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.
I grew up in Poland and I will never forget or denied that (I can’t, my accent is too strong :-) and I am very grateful that I was born in Poland during Communism because I appreciate even more my life  in America.  I am aware  that some people might have different opinion about our action by leaving our families,  possessions, certain life style in own countries. But I know that the history shows many generations of people came to this land with hopes that they will have more opportunities for themselves and their posterity.  To us who chose to live here,  America was and still is a “Beacon of Hope”.   This is what I believe!  America is a great land and if we live righteously, God will bless us as He said.

That is why I would like to share this song with you because I do love this land and I believe that there are so many wonderful people who can make a great difference in this land starting in own home, communities, cities, states…

It is already July and I didn’t post anything about my students.  I love teaching and I had so many wonderful students this year.  Every Year I prepare the recital so they can share with others what they worked on during the school year.

Recording Studio at Home

Since my last recording adventure I decided that I would like to record another CD with songs for my children.  It would be a collection of some polish songs as well as  songs that I composed for my children.  So I’ve been learning about Home Studio Recording and I found some good information on line.  One of the sites that I found was by Rachel Rambach.  I already have some recording essentials and this site is was very helpful to me.  I am posting here for those who are interested in recording at home but don’t know where to start.
